Tea cozy brooch

finished projects

I wanted to create a super cozy teapot. The design is inspired by the Brown Betty teapot, wrapped in a vintage cozy. I used a silk/merino blend thread for the knitted details and regular DMC for the tea pot. Next time I might make the tea cozy even cozier – maybe with a pom pom on top!

The stitch I used to create the knitted effect is called Ceylon Stitch. I used the Royal School of Needlework’s RSN Stitch Bank for instructions.

This brooch and the teacup brooch are going to be auctioned off at an annual fundraiser for the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery in Waterloo, Ontario.

I'm a dye hard fan of textile history and come from a family of crafters. I'm interested in learning more about embroidery by trying out age old techniques with a contemporary twist. I hope you enjoy looking through my projects and that they inspire you to give stitching a try!
